Anyone making their own truss rod and willing to share idea? I have been making the Cumpiano style until now, but I would like a 2 way trussrod. Seems the only difficult part would be to find a long and small allen nut. Edit: in fact it is not even a nut but rather a tube with an allen key at one end. This tube to be welded to the threaded rod. |

I beleive you need to be able to cut left hand threads as well if you can find he proper tap & die. |

Yes one of the thread has to be left hand for a model with 2 threads. Another option would be to have the end fixed but able to rotate. Not too sure how to accomplish that in keeping the weight down. |

I cant see how you could possibly make them any better than Allied - in fact Todd told me last week that they are improving some stuff on the current design by moving to stainless. Price might go up a buck or two per. If you can get 13 at a time (gang up with someone close, Serge comes to mind !!!) they are like 7.50. Can you really make them for less, that accurately ??? For me , its never been worth the time. My $.02 |

Yes at $7.50 it is tuff to beat. As I build about one per year, I will have inventory for the next 12 years ![]() |

[QUOTE=Serge Poirier] Same here Alain, we seem to be building at the same speed! ![]() Perhaps the two of you should make an order together. |

That would be great John but i think Alain lives in Montreal which is an hour and a half drive from here, would cost more in gas than the cost of the truss rod itself. |

Try canada post once the order comes in Serge !!!! Cheap. Here is a thought for early next year - group truss rod buy, we can split them up and the annual get-together at Zootsters (or where ever). I am going to be ordering a couple duz at least once the new ones are available in the fall, but if we can get them for 4-5 bucks a piece, I wil gladly take more if we do this. Maybe as a sponsor allied will cut us an even better deal ???? |

But I know people who drive it back and forth on a regular basis, so it would not be impossible to arrange. |

Tony as a fellow OLF Canuck, I would be interested in a group buy on truss rods' that came this side of the boarder. I know you said early next year, so that's January 2nd right ![]() Heck, My Uncle lives just on the US side of the boarder, we get stuff shipped there all the time, if these are US made we don't have to pay duty I think, so lets get the order shipped there, I will pick them up and than ship Canada Post to the rest of the Canuck buyers. Just a thought. |
