They're previewing some new macs and the new mac OS today. I just
watched the preview for the new OS (http://www.apple.com/macosx/
leopard/). I'm not sure if I like Spaces better than Enterauge, but I LOVE
Time Machine. Built in data recovery? Yes please.

It will let you go back to find anything you've ever deleted (I'm guess that
it won't find secure empty trash deletes). More than that though, it won't
just recover files, it will restore them to the way they were presented. For
example, it will rebuild iPhoto albums, not just recover the files. Address
books cards, etc.

Doesn't sound very secure.... I'm guessing anyone using a notebook for illegal activities won't want one of those!

lol...

There's an option in OSX called secure empty trash. It takes longer
to perform, but it totally wipes out whatever you're deleting. Data
recovery works because things usually aren't entirely deleted. I'm sure
Hesh knows more about how it actually works than I do.

When I learned that, I started using secure empty on everything. I
recently lost some files though, and the idea of $100 recovery software
turned me off to regaining them James Orr38938.6370023148

I have used and been a fan of the Mac OS for a long time. My guess is
that there will be a number of options and features that go along with
Time Machine. For example, I am sure you can "clear the cache" so to
speak whenever you want. Also, I am pretty sure this is a program you
have to enable. Mac also has a program called "File Vault" that
completely encrypts your information and files. Everytime you open a
document it deciphers it on the fly. When you close the document, it is
encrypted once again. This program also has to be enabled. OS X is a
very secure system.

The Mac OS is developed by a brilliant group of people - like all Mac
Apps, it will undboutedly work very well and be very secure.

Off on a tangent here but imagine if Microsoft started building guitars? What sort of instruments do you think theyd be churning out?

Just a thought (ok, ok...its straight out Microsoft/Windoze bashing)
