Thanks to Rich Alteri I am giving this some serious thougt. We can meet at my shop for some informal information exchange. I can do a little inlay workshop and other info change.
I am about 12 minutes off RT 81 exit 112 ( HEGINS ). I don't have accomodations for sleeping but we have some hotels up on RT 81 that are within 20 minutes at PINE GROVE and INDUSTRIAL PARK ( Minersville ). We can have a catered picinc of milk can stew or somthing. I think we can have some fun. I am looking at Sat-Sun.
Let me know how many have a serious interest and we can see what we can do.
Thanks
john hall

John -
I am interested in coming and seeing your shop. I cannot come the weekend
of Sep 16 but about any other time would be fine. Let's see what others want
to do!

Right John, you need to explain a bit better just where you are, so those of us who don't know can better understand what you're talking about!

John,

It was great to meet you at GMC this past week. I would love to come out to the Blues Creek Blast, if the schedule works out (My schedule is fine...My family's schedule is another matter). Please let me know when the date is set.

Thanks.

Paul

Hi John--

First weekend in October would be good. I have to talk to my better half, but she has been interested in a tour of the Martin facility as well, so this might just be the reason to go fro a drive!

Thx --Jim

This is growing out of the Philly area group meet thing?
I have to be in Frederick, MD to see a play by a friend of a friend on October 7. I'd like to come if it happens some other weekend.

Hey John, I have the first and second weekends in October blocked. WOuldnt miss this.

If you are looking for some idea starters - wondering if others would be interested in side bending and approach to making cutaways - both styles.

Also personal interest in setup and fret work.

Jigs of course (sure you have plenty for us to see)
I think my idea has been taken and gone off in another direction.

Oh well.

Jim
I don't think that means we have to drop the idea of a more regional group, though.

(let me send some more subliminal brain waves here - October 7-8 BAD, some other weekend GOOD, Oct. 7-8 BAD, some other weekend GOOD, ...     )

Your idea is a very good one indeed. We don't need to meet in a shop , we can meed at a resturant or something else.
It seems that I hi jacked your idea and that isn't my intent. What if we meet somewhere like pottstown or reading. I am sure we can find somewhere we can share ideas and get to just meet face to face?
what do you think? I cas still do my bash but I think your idea is just great. I love to meet fellow olf;ers and how about the guitarkitbuilding forum

Maybe I am missing something here?

From my perspective, JW had a great idea of a get together opportunity for the fall and like all great ideas it continued to grow with lots of enthusiastic response.

Then all of a sudden I am seeing terms like hijack and people feeling bad about something.

I really liked where this was going. Meeting at John's shop would give us a chance to see some building techniques in his new shop not to mention the opportunity to look at his growing inventory of stuff. With the right environment we could get some tips on different areas of building with tools and examples close at hand. A perfect environment from where I sit compared to meeting in a restaurant somewhere.

Now if the objective is to simply get together and share a beer (or a soda) and get to meet each other, a restaurant will work just fine. But if the objective is to exchange ideas and learn I am still for doing this at John's shop if he can accomodate a group.

Am I out on the edge with this idea????

I sure hope I didn't offend anyone. All are welcome for a shop visit and if I can make prper arrangements I would hope to do this as a weekend or at least an all day saturday thing.
A few logistic things like food as we are in the sticks and not all that many good places to eat. Hope to see you all soon.
Still appears to be a 1st 2nd weekend of oct. If Jim can make it later I would be happy to accomodate that. I also am trying to see if I can get Dale Unger here. His arch top work is outstanding.

John--

I don't think that anyone is offended. The Blues Creek Blowout sounds like a good idea and it should attract people from quite a wide area. I see it as being complimentary to regional meetings.

Pick the date that works best for the most people and it will happen.
