I was just sitting at lunch and thinking about spool clamps (what can I say) and how they are made and used. That made me wonders how spool clamps can be used to attach the top and back if the sides are inside a mold. Are spool clamps only able to be used on a rim outside a mold? What method of top and back attachment do you use?

Thanks

Philip

No you can drill holes in your outside mold all the way around the body, then run your spool clamps through the holes.

Good question Phillip. Don't have an answer for you, though I'm sure someone will. I use my go-bar deck, with a caul so I don't damage the top or back.

I've seen holes drilled in the mold near the sides to allow the spool clamps to pass through. Seems like this would be a pain at glue-up time though, IMHO.

I and others have used go-bars. My setup looks like this:

Oh, I forgot to mention. It's my combo access/sound port. Needs a little work though, seems I lost some volume.
