I was just sitting at lunch and thinking about spool clamps (what can I say) and how they are made and used. That made me wonders how spool clamps can be used to attach the top and back if the sides are inside a mold. Are spool clamps only able to be used on a rim outside a mold? What method of top and back attachment do you use? Thanks Philip |

No you can drill holes in your outside mold all the way around the body, then run your spool clamps through the holes. |

Good question Phillip. Don't have an answer for you, though I'm sure someone will. I use my go-bar deck, with a caul so I don't damage the top or back. -Mark |

I've seen holes drilled in the mold near the sides to allow the spool clamps to pass through. Seems like this would be a pain at glue-up time though, IMHO. I and others have used go-bars. My setup looks like this: ![]() edit: man these guys post quick! |
