I am so mad at myself! I'm working on a 12 fret slope dread and a 12 fret 000. They will both have a nut width of 1 7/8". Naturally I was going to do slotted headstocks. I just now noticed that I have my neck blanks glued up with 1/2" thick headstocks!
Should I order new neck blanks and start over? Or, should I just go with solid headstocks on these guitars? Would it looks silly to have solid headstocks on guitars like this?

You could put a 1/8" thick headplate on the front and back like I do.

John How is a smart fellow...

Colby, I don't think a flat headstock is an issue with those guitars. In fact, it's easier to change strings on standard headstocks than on slotted ones.

What John and Don said, i had to do the same thing on no 2, i put 2 headplate veneers, one on each side and it did the job.

Colby,

Why do we put slotted headstocks on 12-fret necks? Because that's what Martin did way back when. So what?!!! You're fine as you are, and I suspect, from what you've done in the past, you're going to come up with an instrument that's so good no one is going to even think about slots.

Thanks for the input guys! I guess I just need to decide whether or not I would be satisfied with a solid headstock on these guitars.
