I am so mad at myself! I'm working on a 12 fret slope dread and a 12 fret 000. They will both have a nut width of 1 7/8". Naturally I was going to do slotted headstocks. I just now noticed that I have my neck blanks glued up with 1/2" thick headstocks! ![]() Should I order new neck blanks and start over? Or, should I just go with solid headstocks on these guitars? Would it looks silly to have solid headstocks on guitars like this? |

You could put a 1/8" thick headplate on the front and back like I do. |

John How is a smart fellow... Colby, I don't think a flat headstock is an issue with those guitars. In fact, it's easier to change strings on standard headstocks than on slotted ones. |

What John and Don said, i had to do the same thing on no 2, i put 2 headplate veneers, one on each side and it did the job. |

Colby, Why do we put slotted headstocks on 12-fret necks? Because that's what Martin did way back when. So what?!!! You're fine as you are, and I suspect, from what you've done in the past, you're going to come up with an instrument that's so good no one is going to even think about slots. |

Thanks for the input guys! I guess I just need to decide whether or not I would be satisfied with a solid headstock on these guitars. |
