Just went to order some more Bois D' Rose fingerboard blanks from LMI, only to find they are no longer available.
Anyone know of any other sources for this wood?

I know that Exoticwoods used to advertise this, but I have never dealt with them, so I can't give a recommendation one way or the other about the quality or service they provide. |

Call Todd. I am sure he has what you need. I have a few of those Bois D' Rose sets he has been selling lately and they are exceptionally nice. I would have to think he has fbs, headplates, bridges etc. to match. |

I bought some wenge neck blanks from Exotic Woods - their service is exceptional and the wood was perfect. You should have no hesitations in buying from them. |

Mark, Sorry about that! Bois d' Rose normally comes from Madagascar and so has suffered the same fate as other woods we were getting there (most notably Madagascar Rosewood). This comment will be appearing on our website soon: "Madagascar rosewood is valued for its Brazilian rosewood-like colors and black line figuring. It has been a favorite of our customers for the past few years, but despite our best efforts, we have not been able to find any that meets are customer's expectations during that later half of 2005 and into 2006. T he export limitations that have plagued the Ebony trade may in part be to blame, but there is also concern that there is a lack of suitable lumber. The fact is that we and our suppliers are having difficulty getting a clear picture of the situation. Assuming that the ecological devastation that has harmed much of Madagascar is not to blame, then we will do our best to procure more of this valuable tonewood. Until then, please check our website, or call for an update. " So, the same is true for Bois d' Rose. I am sure either Todd or Gulab (Exotic Woods)may still have some around but we are all out! Mark, I saw some on the Gilmer Wood site, not a sponsor. If you only need one fingerboard, I have one in the stash that is really nice I got from LMI some time ago. You can have it if you want it. PM me if you want me to take a photo and send it to you. I purchased a variety of fingerboards a while back just to see them up close and personal. I will probably never use it. No problem Mark, I agree it really is pretty wood with the purple lines through the wood. I might find a use for it someday. I generally try and match fingerboard, headplate and bridge woods and this is just a single fingerboard I purchase to see what it looked like some time back. Glad you found some.
