As this project has developed over the past several months, there have been many occasions where I have been caught in the crossfire between multiple factions, on multiple issues. I always suspected this would be the case when i took on the project. None of the issues really amounted to a hill of beans when considering the whole. I have done my best to gently lead the project forward. I am very heart felt in my sentiment toward this project and even more so toward my brothers and sisters here at the forum. To me, even though this project means a lot to me, it means much less than my friendship and brotherhood with all of you. If any of my proding toward anyone involved has offended I am deeply sorry. It was only my intention to keep the project moving forward.

With this said I must judge that I am not the person to be the foreman for this project. I have been unable to keep the project moving with out coming across as being demanding or harsh. I am not sure if anyone else would like to take this resopsability over but I must from here forward limit my participation to the French polish finish and maker's label. There is no anger or animosity in this decision, rather a realization that I was not getting the job done the way it needs to be done.

I look forward to the completion and delivery of this project. and the joy I am sure it will bring the recipient.

Sincerely
Michael PayneMichaelP38947.608587963

You're a good man, Michael. I see nothing wrong that you are or were doing on this project. Nobody could have done a more effective job!!!

I don't know if there is anybody out there who has experience in "herding cats." Right now, you could write the book.

Valiant effort Michael. Could you do us one last friendly task on this build, besides the French Polish and Label? Could you put up the list of folks as to what they said they would do? You don't have to say a word if you don't want to.

Michael you did a great job.

Michael,
You did good and I can understand that you don't want to risk a friendship over this project.
I know I was dragging my feet when I had the sides here for bending, and you had to get on me to get it going. I needed that push
I think playing the part of the whip-cracker you sometimes do feel the backlash. But don't take it personal. Just imagine where we'd be with this project had you NOT been pushing. Probably still sitting next to my bench

The reasons I am backing out on the leadership are varied but the most important is the hope to inject some new blood in the leadership. Someone needs to step forward or we all need to take the active role to push this forward. This is a very worthy cause. Too noble to allow to die.

To whom it will be in trusted:
Craig needs Johns address to ship the fretboard that was inadvertently shipped to him. This is the only material issue I am aware of.

Builders roles can be found by searching the archive under "build schedule"

There are no hard feeling here at all. I truly felt that I was not getting the job running the way it should. I have or feel no dishonor or resentment in my term as foreman but rather pride that I have been involved.

It is my personal opinion that this project can and most certainly should be rapped up and delivered before the the end of October or at lest the end of November. I know and understand that the majority of us build on this project have full time jobs out side our luthierie, and also have commitments to family and our clients that need to be met. I am in that very same boat. With the construction that is left on the project, only a couple of us has more than a couple days work to complete their task. If we really get after it, it can be done much sooner that I quoted and we can get this project out of our hair. I am throwing no stones at anyone!!! The good Lord knows my own house has many glass walls. I have had my own problems to deal with on this and other project this year. I am only trying to encourage us all to get this project done.

Bless us all now lets get after it.
