Does anyone know of a source for a piece of paua abalone in the Los Angeles area? I could really use a small blank on Aug. 20th. I'm in the South Bay Area in Torrance.

Thanks

Philip

Thanks Michael

I appreciate your help! Rescue is about 425 miles north of me so I guess that won’t work. Your response is still appreciated. I sanded a side through to the kerfing on a spot near the soundboard. A small colored spot appeared as I was sanding and I said “what that” so I kept sanding more to remove the spot. Of course, my inexperience didn’t recognize it until more color started to appear. I would have inlayed a cutoff from the sides but someone else tossed them so I can’t. Upon review, I have decided to leave it as it is. The area is not that large and I will just live with it. The rest of the instrument looks great so it it’s ok. Oh yeah, it’s my unbound quilted mahogany tenor ukulele.

Regards,

Philip

Rich,

Thanks but I think I will leave it as is. I'm sure that it will bother me more than anyone else who looks at it. I will show it proudly to remind me that is is so easy to make an error. It will also remind me that sometimes hand sanding is better in certain cercumstances.

Philip
