I am trying to find a file or rasp for my Dad. He found this file at a yard sale umpteen years ago and I suspect it was a cheapie. It is about 1" wide x 12" long and is covered with bonded grit. I am not sure if it is carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive material that is bonded to the steel file. I have searched for quite a while and can't find one. Can anyone help? I have seen some small Chinese needle files like it but this is a full size file. TIA...

I have a bunch of old files that I got from my dad, Tim. I'll take a picture of them tomorrow morning (I'm working a night shift now) and I'll post them to see if anything hits your eye...

Tim,

In another post, Anthony Z. mentioned Kutzall grinding tools, and I seem to remember seeing Kutzall files somewhere. They were much like you described.

Tim, check out the Kutzall files that Carlton mentioned at Lee Valley. Good luck.
