Well the big storm has begun here on Cape Cod, We are supposed to get 24" of snow with hurricane force winds tonight.

If you dont hear from me for few days...send out the rescue dogs.

Hope your shop is warm, and you have plenty of coffee to tide you over. 24", that is a load. You might have to build a dog sled to get out of there!

Last I heard the Cape was going to get the worst of it but they have weather alerts out here too now, they are saying about 3" an hour. At least it's the light fluffy stuff. I'll be shoveling out in the morning for sure.

Good luck guys. Lots of folks have heart attacks shoveling snow, so don't overdo it.

Matt keep warm. Good weather for guitar building. We got 12" so far in Buffalo and were on the outside edge of the storm.

I wish we could get 2 feet of snow.. this recent hot spell rained all over the local ski hills.. All I wanna do is go snowboarding.. stupid tropics and their "tropical punch" weather pattern..

all I can say is Im glad I like x-c skiing, it is the only means of transportation at the moment.

well I made it through the night and by some stroke of luck I still have power. I have about 30" so far and it is`nt supposed to stop untill tonight. The wind is really whippin as well, gusts up 80mph are being reported.

shoveling, Good grief....I dont know where to start this time.

The NOAA is talking blizzard of "78" where you are. I have no idea how much I have, my guess is about 14" it's drifting under windy conditions and still snowing like crazy. No sense in getting out shovels and snow blowers till it lets up a bit. Man I love blizzards, mother nature is an awesome sight!

We've got around 2' and accumulating.... the State of Rhode Island has declared a "state of emergency" and everything is shut down. No stores, no nothing. I've got a nice 3' drift in my side yard. We've had wind gusts up to 75 mph, and I hear they've reach 80 out on the Cape and islands.
All schools and government offices are closed tomorrow, and the government is encouraging all businesses to stay closed. We could get as much as 30-36" when all's said and done here. Nasty nasty! But fun!

A normal 2 hour trip took her almost 4 1/2 hours. She made it home safely, thanks. Apparently though she passed dozens of cars that decided to slide off the road...some people just don't understand the concept of "driving for the conditions".

We seem to be in a slight lull right now, but apparently there's plenty more snow on the way. We've had visibility down to around 100' earlier this morning. Fun times!

doing fine so far. absolute white out here, huge wind gusts.

I am so happy to still have power. many in thw area do not. All of Nantuckett is out at the moment.

this is an awesome storm.

Well, apparently the snow drifted over the the combination air intake/vent from our furnace, and water made it's way down into the furnace control box, so it won't work. Good thing we have a woodstove. We're on backup heat now. At least we have electricity so I can watch football...

Yow, bad timing for the furnace to quit. Good thing you have that wood stove. Let's just hope the power doesn't quit during the game. Hmm that reminds me I better check the flashlights and oil lamps.

Got a around 24" here in Sudbury, Mass. Managed to snow blow the driveway and suck up the Sunday paper right at the end. The thing is just wedged in and won't budge. I wish my joints were that tight.

We just caught the edge of it up here in Newport (near Hanover NH). We had about 10", and it stopped by this morning (Sunday). Got the driveways all cleared by 8 AM, and then the wind picked up and drifted them back in. Oh well,

Now it's just _cold_. It never got above 10 degrees during the day, and as soon as the sun droped below the horizon it started to chill. I'll have to feed the shop stove a couple of times this evening or else it'll take all day tomorrow to get it up to te point where I can work. But at least I'm not on the road. My wife's in Boston; she went down on Saturday. I imagine I'll hear all about it when she gets back tomorrow.

then when the paper softens pull it out in chunks. At least thats the way I heard to do it (must happen often)

We got 14" here in Amherst. Light and fluffy. Took about an hour to shovel it out. I guess we were lucky.

Furnace came back on....so we're good there.

Heh, the snowstorms in the US north east made the lunchtime television news on the BBC today. So, if your affected, stay indoors, and tickle your guitar, that's what you built them for wasn't it?
