For those who may not have heard or forgot the client that bought the Thinline SJ knocked a hole in it in less than an hour having it in his possession. Well the repair has gone to finish this week but here are some pics of the repair in the rough and the client the evening he brought it back to my house.

Here is the hole. I have taped a scrap piece of spruce backing plate to hold the the missing pieces level during glue up.

Oh it did not go anywhere I am doing the finish. it is in the booth as of Monday. finish is on and curing as we speak. I took all the finish off the back and resealed the whole back just in case I had a bit of hue issue around the repair

Wow, that was one heck of a hole you fixed. Hopefully your client will be much more careful when he gets the guitar back.

Nice job, I'd like to see pics of the repair process...

I did not take any others of the repair process. It was pretty simple since the pieces that were knocked out were in tact in relation ship to the their mating edges.

First I sanded back to wood level at the repair site. Then taped a thin piece of spruce in side to make a deck for the loose pieces to set on. the pieces were cleaned and test fitted then hide glued back in place. and allowed to cure over night. I then removed the spruce that I had taped to the inside, sanded the entire back level to wood, washed with a 60/40 mix of DA and Zpoxy, allowed to cure over night, lightly sanded, sealed with shellac and reapplied finish to the back.
