Hi so I routed the binding channel too thin at one point and then being careless using the scraper almost thinned the binding away to nothing. Just wondering what you guys would suggest the bindings are just black i was wondering whether to cut that section out and use epoxy to rebuild the binding there.

I'd route it off and start over, making sure the binding ledge is accurate all the way around.

Yeah, the problem is how you cut your channels, let us see your set up.

Hi Kurt,

If youre scraping bindings then make sure you keep the scraper registered against the top/back or sides. If you run the scraper at an angle across the bindings then youll get into trouble.

Like others here I'd be interested to see how you routed out your binding channels.

If your binding is 1/4", do I route exactly to 1/4 " or do I leave a scooch so that the binding will be the same scooch above the top?

What is a scooch? If you don't know, what are you doing making guitars and a member of this forum. Knowing measurements is key to building!

Scooch is something I prefer without water or ice.

Bob, I try to get mine as exact as possible. But if there is any difference in the rabbit and the binding you need to have it a scooch proud rather than a scooch low. It is much easier to scrape down a little binding than it is to scrape or sand down the top, if you know what I mean.

And as I found out on my last guitar, if the binding is a scooch low it makes it more difficult to push it down to the bottom of the ledge during glueing.
