Well after a little tinkering I got strings on the dred today.

After a couple of weeks I'll strip it down and fit a pickup & preamp, strap buttons and put on a few more coats of Danish oil.

nestled snugly in it's new hard case........

That's a 4 piece walnut back on there......

Spruce top, bone nut saddle & pins, rosewood binding, fingerboard, rosette and bridge.

look at all that curly stuff going on in the spruce.......

and a soundclick 2 hours after the strings went on.......martinedwards38958.4830092593

*ahem* that is why the macro facility on my camera is currently disabled...

Oh go on then.........

bear in mind that this ISN'T finished.

there needs to ba a fair bit of tidying done and I reckon another 4 or 5 coats of Danish oil fine sanded between coats (and probably a clear scratch plate)

the truss rod cover needs fitted too.....

I just couldn't wait!!!

Let me see if I've got this

....disable macro setting and talk up the scratches as "character lines" that add to the exquisite and authentic nature of the artistry in luthery....

AKA: oops I wanted that there

Right Martin, now you've finished your first Dred, now it's time to start your first guitar!

Seriously Martin Well done, there is a great sense of achievement when you get that first note from your first guitar.

Great first build!!!
I love the soundtrack!!!
It is great when we can actually hear these instruments.
How did you load that?

It's not too late to go back and do some more sanding on it. Also, please smooth over the sharp points on the nut before you cut your hands up.

It's gotta be said...this really continues the current OLF theme on edible guitars...

This is the choc chip and caramel sauce that compliments Russel's ice cream guitar!!!

I love that rosette.Sam Price38958.7655208333
