Does anybody use one? Sounds like a good idea to put the agreement on paper to protect both the maker and buyer. |

I do as well. It is a must if you do not know your client or the client does not know you. A good agreement form should clearly state warranties and penalties. I am explicit about the fact that once the guitar is in the construction phase that there is a major penalties for cancellation. I had a commission that backed out after I was 80% on a special order master grade Koa D model with their name inlaid on the FB in abalone. They tried to sue me for the deposit back. If not for the Order Agreement I would have lost the time and material and more than likely legal fees. I have on several occasions refunded the whole deposit. All of us run into circumstances in our lives beyond our control. I will help all I can. But you should protect both you and your client with the agreement. |
