We haven't done this for awhile.... Which movies have you folks rented lately that you would recommend for adult viewing?

Remember the Titans with Denzel Washington is awesome...O Brother Where Art Thou? is cool...if you grew up with the Starsky and Hutch TV show, the remake/spoof is entertaining in a sophmoric sort of way...The Princess Bride will score with the wife and the kids can watch too...Napolean Dynamite, but you need to watch it like 3 times to really "get" it...and for me, Forrest Gump is a classic...these aren't really new, but are staples in my video cabinet...

In light of some of the things happening lately "Play Misty for Me". The scariest movie ever made.

Napolean D. A good low budget film, quickly becoming a classic. How many times I've heard quotes from it. THe whole is almost a reality based video diary. (From Idaho) Fun stuff

Why We Fight (Cause the military industrial complex wants us to)
Syriana (Disturbing)
The Italian Job (The best heist flick in a long time)
Eraserhead (Disturbing)
The Big Lebowski ( I KNOW this guy!)

Just a few...

Oh I also realy liked V for vendetta

and I know it's not in DVD yet but if you haven't seen Disney's Cars yet, get out and see it, it's hillarious.

Have you seen The Game with Michael Douglas? I'd definitely call it
adult oriented. It's a thriller.

Douglas's character gets caught up in an identity theft-esq thing when he
gets sick of living an isolated and inward forcused life. His brother gives
him a birthday gift that's supposed to be a "solve the puzzle" type game
that happens in real life. It turns out to be a group stealing his identity.

Suspense isn't the word.

If you don't mind sub-titles (and I suspect you don't) be sure to see 'The City of God'. It's based on a true story. Directorial debut by Fernando Meirelles. Brilliant and thought-provoking. It's going to blow your mind.

I also enjoyed Sideways with Paul Giamatti. I still can't believe he didn't get nominated for an Emmy but Thomas Haden Church did ! Sexy Ottawa girl Sandra Oh is in there... Hmmmm.

I just saw a good little Australian film recently, 'The rage in Placid Lake'. Different. Intelligently written. A nice light movie.

Happy viewing Z-Meister!

'V for Vendetta' is a very good interpretation/update of the soruce material, and probably one of the best comic adaptations in recent years.

Beyond that...hmm. I haven't really been watching movies on DVD recently. TV shows, lots, but not films. That's what my inlimited cinema card is for.

I just watched "open water" on cable. It was surprisingly suspenseful for a movie where not much happens.

"V" is great. Loved it.

"Why We Fight" is great. Loved it. (But you sort of have to be into the whole geo-political thing. If not you will probably hate it.)

For those of you that have NetFlix or other mail services, get the entire Foyle's War series.
It will be one of the favorite series you ever watched.

I very much enjoyed watching "Worlds fastest Indian" recently. Anthony Hopkins plays an older guy wanting and eventualy going to the salt flats to try setting a record on his old warrior. Trouble is he had to get there from Australia on a very limited budget.
A very good movie and suitable for the whole family.

I can't believe I forgot about World's Fastest Indian. I saw it about two
weeks ago and had the same thoughts as John. It's really enjoyable and
endearing.
