With all the dark clouds hanging over the forum I thought I'd just give you all some good news. Following her massive stroke and a slow recovery, my mother has come home from the hospital today, I've made a new bedroom for her downstairs, until I get a stair lift fitted (I need planning permision for that as my house is 500+ years old and has a listing protection). She visibly brightened up when she came through the front door! Can I thank all of you in OLF land for your kind thoughts and messages. I don't know if they did her any good , but they sure helped me. Colin |

Great news! If your building authorities are anything like over here they will probably require a stair lift that can be installed and removed later without damage to the existing constructions. Here, access for disabled usually has higher priority so you would not have a problem getting a permit, but the paper work can be tedious. Best wishes from just across the North Sea. |
