I've spent much of the day watching show after show on the events leading up to, on and post 9/11.....





Silencing.....dumbfounded.....questioning.....thinking.....





To all of you who are personally effected by these past events, my sincerest prayer for peace goes out to you.....you have suffered much.





To all our New York, Washington and Pennsylvania friends.....we love you.

I've no direct connection to 9/11, but growing up in Northern Ireland I know what terrorism feels like.

I remember exactly where i was..., we all went to our appartments and were glued to the TV set not just for the day but well into the night, in fact, i sometimes still watch if i can find a satisfying answer to why, the truth...

I was in my office on 9/11 at my window looking out at the Sears tower a few buildings away, which is right where I am right now.

I agree with Martin many times over, but I can't help this deep feeling of sadness.

Thinking of the loss and the way it changed the world, it really puts things in perspective. What a great luxury it is that we can be distracted with the lovely problem of what type of bracing to use, or what binding with this wood would look great.

Not to diminish what we love by any means, but we are blessed that at least sometimes, all we have to worry about is "not sanding through the finish at the binding".

In the course of history there events that happen that have a profound effect on human kind for weeks, months, and years. Every so often events happen that change our the course of history from that point forward. Some are productive from the beginning, other are evil in their intent and take time to have a beneficial effect. All make some sort of change in the collective humanity. Sadly some times the lessons learned from these events are too soon forgotten.

My teenage grand kids often get on to me for waisting their time with historic munusha lessons and political effect insight when we visit or vacation at historic locations around this country. I just smile and quote them, the wise old quote from one of our century's most clearvoient statesman. "Those that fail to learn the mistakes and lessons history teaches, are sadly doomed to repeat them".

Dear lord let this be a lesson never forgoten.

I hear what you are saying - it is important to keep these people in our hearts and what happened in perspective, but I might also suggest that what we make and do with love and creativity and passion, and sharing with others these passions are not luxuries, they are essential. Without that in our lives it would be a mean place indeed. I want to be reminded of the good things in what I do. The choices I make in deciding small things reflect the same process in the big things.

I guess I'll be the odd one out on this, I watched people jumping from the towers to escape the heat and smoke, knowing they would fall to their deaths. The choice they where forced to make was die by fire or die by falling, I think of the people on flight 93 and how they became hero's by fighting back, of what must have gone through the minds of the people on the plane that crashed into the pentagon...

I too watched the towers fall, one by one, learned of the plane that flew into the pentagon and I cried, for the loss of innocent human lives, for the families torn apart and for the scar left on our nation and the world.

But there is something more to this, and that is pure righteous anger at the scum who would commit acts like this (and have done so over the last 50 years), to the people in the middle east celebrating and throwing candy around as if it was a day to remember.

I'm proud of our men and women who put their lives in danger to help others, it was the everyday american who ran into those towers. Who signed up to fight the war on terror, who have given so much to help heal the wounds that 9/11 left. I'm also very grateful for the overwhelming response of the rest of the civilized world who in our greatest time of need reached out to help, as we have done for many of them in the past.

And most of all I'm proud to be an American, I don't care what the rest of the world thinks, because no matter how badly they say we are as soon as a disaster strikes one of them we offer unconditional assistence. That's the America I grew up in, it's what we do and it's the America that I'm proud of.

I shed tears of sorrow, tears of pride and tears of anger in the aftermath...and we'll be in that aftermath for at least a generation.

Our very existence depends on everyone's willingness and ability to rid the world of the scum to which you refer.

Well the wife and I went and left flowers this morning at the original memorial site at the Pentagon. We will continue to do so as long as we are in this area. For me the 9/11 attacks has a personal face.

We met Chris throwing darts and became friends (he knew I was always good for a few free beers for soldiers ) . Due to the age difference, he would tease my wife and call her mom (she actually loved it). We talked to him the Thursday before the attacks and he had finally made the decision that the Navy was going to be his career. For him it was a chance at a better life. The irony is that Chris was scheduled for leave on 9/11 but went in to the Pentagon anyway to work on the Navy web site. It was 2 days before we found out his name was added to the list of victims.

Forgive my rambling, but a good friend will be missed and I'll never forgive nor forget. Sure glad I had to chance to get to know him. Don A38971.638587963

I just had a guy walk into my office that I work with. Great guy. Smart as a whip...MIT grad. He told me he was scheduled to be on one of those flights to California on 9/11. The place he was going to asked him to reschedule and go to a different location, so he canceled his flight and made new arrangements for the following day.
He just stood there shaking his head as he concluded the story. It still shakes him deeply to know he was nearly one of those on one of the flights.

I hope we as a nation never forget.
I hope the rest of the world never forgets, and that they never experience what we have on 9/11. Unfortunately, many nations had citizens killed that day. Maybe they too will keep the memory alive.

I can't believe that people can allow their minds to be so consumed by hate and twisted in their thinking as to do these kinds of things and feel right about it and justified in doing it. It makes little sense.

Knowing the difference between good and evil should be ingrained in our conscience. Somehow, for some it gets twisted around.

witnessed something I wish was plastered all over CNN every day. In my
opinion, we as a nation need MORE righteous anger at these
'islamofacists." 9/11 was the opening salvo in, as President Bush said
tonight, "The Calling of Our Generation." God Bless America and the men
and women fighting for her security.

To a certain extent I agree, Billy...BUT... I would emphasize that were it not for a superior U.S. military force, those empires would have caused far more havoc and would have reigned for a long time. If unchecked, Islamo-fascism will create a new evil empire dedicated to converting or killing the infidels (their stated objective).

Well it won't change how I believe and at some point I'd like it to not get in the way of my building and selling guitars, it's just a thought that's been rolling around my head for a while (this is for another thread... sorry)..

I had to edit my statement no less than 4 times to remove any political content, I watched the firemen talk about their experiences last night and finally just had to go do something else, for me it's not been 5 years. It's still fresh in my mind and in my heart, I made my daughter sit down and watch with my wife and I, I think it's important that she understands what real hate looks like and what it's capable of.

In many ways the world has gone crazy, you can't escape the bad news, you can't eat this, you can't do that, this is dangerous, that's bad for you. Scientists can't get funding unless they find something that causes, cancer, obesity, death in mice, global warming, pollution, heart problems and any other list of ailments.
The media delights in being the harbringers of doom, the terrorists declared war on us a long long time ago, and they happily report all this with a gleam in their eye.
It overwhelms you after a while, I escape to the shop or a book for some quiet time, I can't ignore it but I can't take the barrage at full tilt all the time....

I just hope and pray that now there is enough resolve and backbone left in this country to do the job at hand... because if we don't the threat of WWII is nothing compared to what faces us today...

Call me a dreamer if you will, a man seeing the world through colored sunglasses if you want to but...i believe that the world is what we make it and when i say this, i mean all of us on an individual basis....choices...

we choose to smile at each other or not, we choose to love one another or not...

we choose to hate everyone and deny our own selves or accept and tolerate others...

we choose to live in fear of everything or we choose to trust in the good will of man...

we choose to listen to the news because we don't want to miss anything bad that happened or we choose to watch a documentary on building guitars or listen to a music CD...

I think that if we all choose and embrace truth, good will and positive attitude but most importantly faith in God, we can all radiate his love all around us and be contagious so that this love spreads everywhere, where there is light, there can't be no darkness.

Serge, I, too, dream about such a world. I have read, and believe, the

Regrettably, here on earth, the Hitlers of the world can be stopped only in
war and with superior military force. I submit, and rest, my case on

History has always shown that tyranny, fascism and totalitarianism can only be defeated by total annhiliation. Our forefathers had the courage to stand up and sacrifice for our way of life...now our children are depending on us to do the same. If we don't, then flying planes into buildings will be considered a mild skirmish compared to what's around the corner.
