Anyone get the new issue besides me, seems like Symposium 2007 is May24th -27th 2007 in you guessed it Springfield Missouri! Cool I have never been that aways, I am looking foward to it. Who else is going?
Evan
PS when you get the issue none of the photos from Newport have captions weird, kind of makes it a guessing game.
Good issue though.

Ooh, I might have to sign up with ASIA, that's only a few hours from me.

Thanks Evan - I am tentatively planning to go and thinking about going down early to play some golf with -JJ, John Watkins, Alain, Mike Tobey et al.

Bummer about the dates -- its my wife Birthday on the 25th and my youngest's on the 27th. This is gonna be a challenge -- hopefully not insurmountable.

ASIA 2005 was a blast and a great learning experience --I strongly encourage those who can make it to make it. The interaction with the folks alone is well worth it.

Springfield, huh? Almost in my back yard. I might make this one, although I don't have a clue what it's like. The date will be my biggest problem as that will be the last week of school.     But on the plus side, my wife loves the area and we go several times a year. Big Grizzly store and Bass Pro Shop. What more could a man want.

Living in Canada it might be awhile before I receive my issue -- do tell -- Mario did an article on his chain saw approach to carving a neck?

Finally, the conference is close enough that I can probably make it too! Just have to keep an eye on the dates. Sometimes it can be hard for me to get off work.

af-one,
To get Guitarmaker magazine you must join ASIA. The Association of String Instrument Artisans.Yes you can order back issues. You would be better off to subscribe to this forum,ASIA is included and you would be helping the OLF as well.
I'm planning on making the trip. The last one was so great,I don't want to miss this one DaveAndy38982.4192708333

I hope to make it, but don't know yet.

I, too, want to thank Brock and Mario for their excellent articles.

Note that Bill Moll is asking for input in planning this Symposium. I, for one, plan to email him with some of my consructive criticisms regarding the last Symposium and hopes for this upcoming one. I encourage others to do the same.

Yes it is in Springfield. For those who don't know, and wonder if anything for family amd Birthdays, Branson is only 45 minutes away and easy trip. At one time and probably still, Branson was the number 2 or 3 tourist place in US. I live there and can vouch for much of that. I will probably go, wait I will go as I work for Bill Moll. Golf anyone, some nice courses in Branson and Springfield. Fishing for trout and lesser spieces also abundant. Just joking on the lesser spiecies thing.

The articles are really good in Guitarmaker. I know first hand how much work Bill puts into this magazine and ASIA. On top of getting all his guitars out, and how much work shop takes, he is always seeming to work on ASIA stuff at the same time. I don't know how he does it, but he puts all his efforts at one time into those task, and niether ever suffer. We knw how building can be, the Guitarmaker magazine takes much effort also. He, Paul and Nadine give alot and pro bono. He is an OLF member also.

All the articles make this issue a must read. I really enjoyed this issue of Guitarmaker. Alll those who aren't yet members of ASIA, should become subscribers and kill two birds with one stone. Support a great forum and become a member of a great association!

Woo hoo just back from a weeks work travel and my issue of GuitarMaker sitting there waiting for me!

Mario thats a great well written and illustrated article -- good on ya! (Still a little leary about taking my Lancelot to a neck though). I look forward to reading your article Brock! If the recent Don Williams initiated thread on the future of lutherie is any indication of interest and views you'll be getting bombarded with emails. Good stuff!

Stan thanks for the promo on Springfield and surrounding area! From glancing at Bill's article it sounds like it's going to be a great venue. Air conditioned rooms will be nice --- it was a little toasty in Maryland last year. Hopefully this spot has a few pubs on campus If it looks like enough will manage a golf outing we'll be calling on you for course suggestions if that's okay with you. Please pass on my regards to the Moll'ster.

Sorry to hear that Jim Samuel has resigned as editor -- I think he did a great job in getting a good publication out considering his day job obligations. Kudos to you Jim and many thanks for making the past years issues GuitarMaker a good read -- hopefully you'll now have the time to start building more guitars.Anthony Z38982.934849537

U-OHHH,

I am bummed about the date for the next ASIA shidig.
I have so enjoyed the last 2 in MD that I could hardly wait till the next.
My youngest son graduates from HS the opening day of this years symposium.
I thought June and July where GREAT months to do such things.
Maybe we'll have to have a rep there.
I'm sure you guys want to dig through my gorgous bearclaw and other tops...?

Hi Brent, welcome to the OLF!

Difinately have a sales rep at the symposium if you can't be there yourself! I enjoyed meeting you and your son at the 2005 ASIA meet after dealing with you over the wires previously, sorry to hear you can't make it this year. For those who don't know, Brent sells some very nice Sitka spruce from Alaska, including some spectacular bear claw.

I hope I will be able to go to the symposium this year(better start saving up! ).Arnt38987.2213888889
