Binding gaps (II) and a tip

I bound numbers 2 and 3 last week and didn't find a gap anywhere!! I'm amazed. I use the LMI binding tape also and cover the area almost completely. Lot of tape, but it's near perfect.

My tip concerns the William's binding jig that I use. On my first guitar there were small lengths of the channel that weren't exactly the right depth and I had to do some hand clean-up with the chisel. This time, I routed the channel completely then I turned the guitar holding jig 180 degrees and routed around again, both guitars came out exactly right. No touch up needed at all, binding fit perfectly!!!!     You guys might already know that, but I didn't, and it sure worked well.

Ron, thanks for sharing, I have been right on the edge about purchasing one of these binding jigs and the style that you have as well. Great to hear these results, might just push me over that edge. I still route my binding/purf channels using now the new style Dremmel with the StewMac Precision Router base and binding/purf jig attachement. I have really not had any nightmares but it is a slow process and do have to do some channel cleanup and adjustments. Actually, cutting binding & prufling channels and doing the install is something I really enjoy doing.
