I'm thinking about trying to go to a big Guitar festival/show that is a long way away. I may even have to fly there. My question is if I fly, how would I go about transporting five or six guitars? Would it be better to ship them ahead of time by registered mail to a friend in that area. Or could I take them on the plane as luggage. If so would I be able to insure them? To make sure they don't get lost and they make it to there destination in one piece? As you can see I really don't know anything about this. I know a few of you on this forum go to shows all over, maybe you can help me out. I would really appreciate any info. |

Ship em!!! No you won't be able to insure them against damage (at least not through the airline) and the gorillas in the baggage handling dept seam to WANT to damage guitars. Ad that to the fact that if you check more than two bags they charge you something like $50 each (depending on airline) you're better off financially shipping them. |

Paul do you find that the shipping gorillas treat your guitars better than the airline gorillas? |

I kid myself into thinking that they do. Plus you can insure if you ship, airlines won't insure against damage. |
