Do you guys cut the sound port before or after bending the side? I would imagine that cutting it after the bending would make it a lot easier to get in the right spot, but it seems like the bend in the bout would make it difficult to cut that way.

I did this one on my last SS. I cut it with a dremel w/ Stew Mac router
base, after bending, but before attaching back and top. I cleaned it up
with needle files and a jeweler's saw.

Graham,
I bend the sides first, then glue in a 2 layer veneer of black/white using foam and clamps so it conforms to the side. Then process the sides as usual with kerfing, then tape your picture in place and use a dremel to cut out the large areas. I then clean up with needle files to file down to the line. Hope that helps.
