I saw a post a while back about a neck angle that was too great (backset)...I think someone recommended sanding the (already completed) guitar body from the bottom half of the soundhole down to the tail end to lessen the angle of the upper bout...Don? I dunno who for sure, but if this rings any bells could I get a re-post? Thanks! |

You could also try taking off the frets and planing down the finger board... Don't ask me how I know this ![]() |

Alain, that's a good idea! And I surely won't ask, but I assume someone told you about this!! ![]() |

Yep Larry, someone told me allright! It was none other than Tony Karoll who helped me get my action back after I had foolishly glued on the neck BEFORE making sure the angle/bridge clearance was all right... I would have done as Hesh says had the neck not been glued on... ![]() |
I remove material on the neck heel just under the fretboard and then re-floss the cheeks which reduces the neck angle.
That's what I do too Hesh, but this looks as though the rim sanding was too zealous before the top was glued on...in fact, if I put a straight edge on the upper bout in the f/b extension area, it runs out at about .50" at the bridge location WITHOUT a f/b on! That's gonna make for a really tall bridge!! I think the guy's best bet would be to do it over...but I know you guys out there are geniouses! So, thought I'd ask... Larry |
