The OLF OM plans have the top X-braces at 90 degree angles to each other. Has anyone experimented with opening the braces up more, and if os, how did you like it?

I use an angle of about 96 degrees. I think the important thing isn't the
angle so much as to make sure the wings of the bridge are on top of the
x-braces and the upper ends of the x-braces are let in to the lining
between the waist and the upper tranverse brace. As long as you do
those two things, you are free to change things as you see fit.   Using a
higher angle gives you a larger area behind the bridge to play with. I
believe it is easier to get the bass out of a smaller guitar this way.
