So far so good...

This week-end my son wanted to help me get some work done!



I'll tell you, bringing down the sides to profile sure is combersome work! I'm never going to do that again. (Cumpiano/Nathelson method). I'm going to cut my sides to profile beforehand. No more planing for this guy. An inch and a half takes a lot of time when your shavings are around 5-6 thou!

I glued in my kerfing, the blocks and the cut-away 'block'... I used the sides of the guitar as my sanding caul. I just held a piece of sanding paper to the sides and sanded away.



Here's my non-symetrical rosette! (Yeah, I chickened out...)



Linings completed.



Planing the braces. Because of the cutaway, I'm going to have to angle the upper face brace.

Looking good! Tomorrow (Tues) I begin bracing the top of build #1.
Definitely not brave enough to try a cutaway...yet.

Great work, Alain. That son of yours looks like a serious and mature 5 year old. I'm sure he's proud of his Dad and all the great work he does.

Question...how wide are those braces? maybe it's an optical illusion, but they look wider than standard.

Yes, the lower face braces and the sound-hole braces are wider... as are the finger braces too...

The X is probably a touch narrow as well...

I'll probably switch the finger braces to standard size... Then again, maybe not...

I just rip cut them all to the same width when I was cutting them on a table saw. I'll adjust the width accordingly before I glue them in...?

Billy pay Alain no mind ....last time I got together with Alain it was cask strength single malt and I thought I aged at least 5 years the next day.
