before shipping a guitar to a buyer who's only seen photos?

I'm sending my walnut bearclaw sitka dread to Oklahoma next week. Now I'm not asking for Luthiers rates, it's pretty much double what the parts cost, and remember the back & sides and neck were free!

Personally I love it and it will be a wrench to let it go as I was teetering on the brink of keeping it.....

anyway, I dreading the thought that the reciepient (who I know from anopther forum) whill open the case and go..

For the record, you have posted progress pics, sound clips and an accurate description of the guitar's capabilities.

So don't worry!!

And anyway, you could always make another; not a replica, but an improvement, as each instrument gets better!

well, paypal have done their bit so I'll get to my cardboard sheet on Wednesday (I'm off for mid term break til then) and by wednesday afternoon it will be winging it's way Oklahoma-ward

really glad I sold a lefty tanglewood last week to practice wrapping a hardcase!!

I kinda do but not because of the client. I ship large package priority mail insured for the full amount + 10% I have had nothing but good luck with USPS but have had bad problems with UPS. Plus USPS is way cheaper. The only thing I don't like about USPS is the fact that the package arrives long before their tacking process ever showes any movement Go figure.

I think you'll find we teach the same number of days you do each year. we get 2 days for autumn 1/2 term..... you get how long?

Anyway, I have to check if standard airmail allows tracking. They DO insure for loss, and it'll be in a hard case inside two layers of thick cardboard, so unless they drive a truck over it or drop ir out of a plane it'll be OK

its also about 2/3 the price of UPS who have a REALLY bad rep on smashing stuff........

Anyways, you lot get an extra five days off a year...England has a statutory 195 days term, You Celts, (Scotland et. al) 190.

*shudders* I had two major high value and delicate parcels from the US before, and I tell you, the tracking page on the web was my HOMEPAGE!!!!

Martin just to let you know I just shipped a 48" long x 10" deep x 22" wide package weighing in at 22lbs to Hawaii from West Texas insured for $3k via priority mail. It arrived at location 3 days after shipping in perfect condition The cost was $132 this includes the insurance. UPS ground would have been $234 another package with same weight and dimensions to San Fransisco priority mail was $60. USPS does offerS tracking but it appears that the updates are never current. Every package I have traced arrived before they ever had any tracking info posted on it.MichaelP39020.6043402778

well, a college of mine has a terrifying guitar collection.

#1 Lowden Custom, a Larivee, two high end Takamines, a Seagull and he's just bought a McPherson.

He played my dread this morning and said it had really nice tone, so that takes a bit of the fear away..... but still!!!

it's now all wrapped up and will be in the post by 4pm (GMT)
