Hey All,

I wanted to post some pics pf the all koa archtop electric I have been
working on. I'm about ready to start binding the body and then fine-tune
the re-curve at the edges.

What's the deal on the truss rod adjustment cover? Looks like you cut it out and then glued back in place temporarily for finishing.

Louis, that is one slick looking axe

The truss rod cover looks really great! It looks like you cut the truss rod cover out of the headstock overlay, then laminated on the overlay?

Thanks all. I cut the truss rod cover from the overlay before I glued it to the
peg head. In the end it will be secured with a screw, it's just resting in the
pocket for the picture.
I’m trying to do a similar thing with the sound hole cut outs to see if I can
use them as plugs. They may end up with bindings. I'm not sure about the
sound holes yet. If I had a grammel I might try violin style purflings around
them.......

Needs a sunburst.
Just kidding, that is sweet. The body and headstock
shapes, soundholes, all of it result in a really
cohesive design.
I would think about not binding it. A nice round-over
on the top and back would give it a cool

Thanks again everyone. At this point I'm committed to binding the box,
we
all have to cover our tracks you know! And besides, who couldn't use
some
more practice mitering purflings??

I forget to mention in my previous post: another step in preparing the
peg head veneer for the flush mount rod cover is to bevel the edge where
it
touches the nut before you cut the truss rod cover out. I've been thinking
I
should photo document this process on the next neck and post it for
posterity.
