What's the best method for stripping waterborne products? I've heard of the heat lamp/gun method to soften the finish, and then peel it off with a razor blade, and I assume there are chemical means. I'd really rather not sand the stuff off. Any advice?


P.S. I used Acetone and a scraper to remove the finish off of the B&S, and it worked, although the acetone also attacked where I filled a few gaps with stick shellac. However, the thought of taking a scraper to the cedar top is daunting, but so is using a heat gun on it.rlabbe38385.4748032407

A warm wet towel and a puddy knife. I would not use a chemical stripper. It could damage plastic binding and purflig and change the color of wood. Most waterborne lacquers will soften quickly under a warm wet towel and can be peeled right off with little problems. Don' ask why I know this
