I ran across a product called "Hard Shellac" and am curious if any of you have tried it. I tried to order it but the supplier said they could not ship it to the US. I was wondering if it is worth looking for other sources. Hard ShellacDon A38385.0358333333

Don,

I'm trying to get some of this myself from a Sydney woodwork supply place. Apparently it's not hard to get around here, it's just that I can only go and pick some up on a saturday morning, and my wife keeps finding other 'more important' things for me to do for the last few of saturdays.

Brian Burns, who I 'met' through mimf, put me onto this. He was in contact with them about two weeks ago, trying to get some sent to the US. You may want to check with him, he seems like a nice helpful fellow.

With luck - there are no weddings, birthdays, or baptisms scheduled this saturday, I'll get some this weekend. I'll do some tests vs regular 2lB cut shellac, and post them here if you like.

Paul

That is the exactly the problem. I know David-SKG was trying to purchase it also. I haven't heard if he was successful. I'm hoping that maybe if I continue to search I'll come up with a US dealer. I guess my next plan is to contact U-Beaut Interprises. If it is good, I'm not opposed to it taking a slow boat.

There is a courier company called hellmann worldwide logistics, who have sent some class 3 flammable liquids to the US for me in the past via air frieght. The cost of this is probably prohibitivly expensive for one person, perhaps you could do a group buy. Shared transport costs between 4 or 5 people might make it reasonable.

John,

Just a little curious as to what is meant by your entry under "interests" in your profile?

I've just googled U-Beaut and found a company 'Australian Outback Imports' 50 miles from me that has it! They also import Australian Hardwoods into the UK. Might be worth a visit.

Don,
I was able to get it...but it was about 6-9 months ago. I am currently experimenting with it. I seem to remember it was somewhere in the $25-26 range but the shipping was like $20. as well and this thing is only 500ml. But it seems to go a long way sort of like the z-poxy in that respect. I'll keep you posted.
