I need end graft suggestions for the blackwood/adi I'm building now. Its going to be bound in EIR. I suggested Spalted maple butthe buyer is looking for some more options.

Are you having side purflings?

Most of course just use the same wood as the binding or the side.

What are using for other appointments? FB, head stock, bridge, rosette? Maybe match one of those. Otherwise it will be the odd man out IMO.

Thanks Rod, it will be a simple guitar. No side purflings and just a Abalone rosette... EIR bound headstock and fretboard.
I'm thinking EIR engraft too...

I agree...For a simple guitar...use the EIR for the endgraft

My preference for end grafts is usually to use the same wood as the back and sides at right angles. Look at Hesh's L-00 for an example. The only real alternative is to match the binding and purfling schemes. With well mitred purflings this can show off the builders skill, but I still don't think it ever looks as classy as using the same wood as the sides.

Simple is always the more elegant.
