This is going to be one of the nicest guitars posted here this year Hesh. I get goose bumps just thinking about the unvailing.
Hesh, you miss your old shop, don't you?! Come on now... admit it!
Come on Al, wouldn't you want a shop that you can sit on the john and bind the guitar at the same time? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That will be a very cool new year guitar than. Have you though of a pyramid bridge? ![]() Stew Mac sells them for $30. That might look good on there since it is a smaller body and all. Here is their write up about the bridge. Here's a 6-string bridge with old style "pyramid" contours, for building a smaller 00 or 000-size flattop acoustic guitar. It's made of unpolished ebony and measures 6" x 1" x 0.350". Unlike a vintage bridge, the saddle slot (3/32" wide x 2-7/8") is angled for improved intonation, and the bridge pin holes are aligned parallel to the slot. The holes are countersunk and are partially drilled for 2-5/16" string spread. Saddle not included. |
...is very loud to the point of almost barking when moderately tapped.
Sounds like my last boss... Now, were you talking about the guitar or the porcelain clamp?
Rod I like the pyramid bridge but the string spacing is funky and Lacey hates it......
How about keeping the same basic dimensions, loosing the pyramids, and cross-breeding it with "stealth" technology? The Black Panther is looking mighty sweet. I think you've conceived another unique winner! |
Rod I like the pyramid bridge but the string spacing is funky and Lacey hates it...... And as brother Andy says the woman is always right....... ![]() I could drill and slot my own since it comes unslotted and undrilled but then she would get mad at me and would not let me keep sleeping on the sofa...... ![]() Good idea though and thanks for suggesting it!
I know where you can get one of these in brw too. ![]() |

Hesh'ster love that first pic...brings back fond memories doesn't it ![]() Just reading Alain's post -- you aren't going to do the top in black are ya? ![]() Only one suggestion if I may...the headstock looks like a copy of the one John Watkins made for me.....I've got a copyright pending on that dude ![]() I wish had time to cut and paste select posts from the Hesh L-OO, its great documentation and it's threads like yours that with the help of the ideas others add really adds to collective wisdom here!! Bravo! |

It looks great Hesh. I'm anxious to see how the Tiger Myrtle looks under finish. I have a set of figured Myrtle, nowhere close to the set you are using, and I hope that it is as good to work with as you have experienced. Keep up the great work! Pete |

the main problem with SM pyramids is they are flat bottomed .. by the time you radius the bottom for 28 ft the pyramid section is about ready to fall off ... they ned to rejig and add radiused bottom, or we need to get Mr CNC to start making and selling them. |
