I have the Stew Mac vise for making saddle slots. It uses a dremmel on their base. What is the best way to go about it?? (Widening it) 1. Use a small bit in the slot and work on widening it 2. Use the correct width bit and just rout a new slot over the existing. 3. Any suggestions/advice appreciated |

are you referring to a repair or on a new commercial bridge? either way i would opt for useing the correct bit if possible. if the correct bit is not available useing shims of the appropriate thickness either side of the router when setting up the fence on your routing jig will maintain the relatie position of the slot. if you are wanting to move the slot the space must be left on one side only. |

Thanks Michael and Hesh Hesh, your method seems perfect for me since I have the device. What bit do you use so the you can cut the depth of the slot in one pass to widden it. (Since you bottom the bit on the bottom of the existing slot) Thanks Andy |
