I remember a post on the old site about some Australian Shellac called "hard shellac" It was sold by U Beaut Polishes. 500ml bottle was something like $26u.s.Has anyone worked with this stuff yet. Any results to share? www.ubeaut.biz I have some and was thinking of trying it over some z-poxy although I seem to remember the stuff was supposed to be so good you didn't need a pore filler. Maybe I am just remembering wrong. I sure would appreciate any feedback. |

Dave, How did you get some of this? I thought it can only be purchased from Australian, and they can't ship by air? Tracy |

Which company did you buy from Dave? Also, how is the knee doing? |

www.ubeaut.biz is the web site listed on the bottle. I tried the stuff on a cedar top today and wound up sanding it off...It dried before I could wipe it from one end to the other ( I was attempting to FP with it as the bottle states is possible). I was using a muneca heavily loaded with the stuff but it dried almost on contact...I'm not used to that! ut that's not the reason I sanded it off. The reason I sanded it off was because the wood seemed to absorb it leaving some area's sort of blotchy. sort of the way oil will absorbe unevenly into certain woods and look "blotchy" kind of hard to explain. As far as getting it shipped...remember I live in Florida...we get a lot of illegal things shipped here. ![]() ![]() |

Thanks Dave, but this site is the Australian site that I went to yesterday, and on the order form it states they will not ship the hard shellac outside Australia. Also, on their site, it states "It is suggested that the first coat onto raw timber be a coat of regular unhardened shellac, and that all subsequent coats be done in Hard Shellac." Maybe that is your problem?? Let me know if you can get it to work if you used regular shellac first, then put this on top of it. If so, I'd like to try it. Tracy |

Tracy, Exactly what I was planning. I sanded the Hard stuff off and used traditional ( with everclear 190). Tommorrow I am going to try to put the hard stuff over the traditional. Let you know how it turns out. ![]() |

Did the whole guitar with the Hard stuff today. So far I think I like it. I am only applying one or two coates a day and I am going to waite the three weeks before I try any buffing. It is pretty hard though. I will post again when I get to that point. |

If it works well, maybe we can do a group buy of this stuff to save on shipping costs. Thanks for keeping us posted. Tracy |
