Well I am planning my 1st L-00. Hesh made me do it!!!!!
I have a set of cuban Mahog I have been saving for a while. I might use it for
this one. What topwood would you match with it. I want a balanced guitar,
great for fingerstyle but good with light strumming

I have Lutz, Cedar, Curly Cedar and 1 flamed redwood.
Personally I think the flamed redwood would not look good with the set of
mahogany. I think it needs to be matched with a darker wood.

Andy, when you sat "fingerstlye" what are you actually referring to? Chet Atkins style? Or perhaps some of the more contemporary styles? If you're talking Atkins type of stuff, then I'd go for the Lutz. If you're talking Celtic or similar, I'd go cedar or redwood.

When I say fingerstyle I am referring to James Taylor, Travis Picking etcazimmer139044.9106134259

Cedar.

I just closed the box on a cuban and cedar dread and I really like what I'm hearing when I tap: loud, deep, great sustain. The thing feels alive. I can't wait to finish this one.

I know what I might use . But, keep the paint for the bathroom renos......

Can't wait to see it Andy. I just ordered Marks plans from MIMF the other day. They will be reference for size and I will draw a shape based on the volumes. I too love those smaller guitars and am keen to build one. It will have a Lutz top and I am thinking Zircote, or BRW for the back and sides.
