I got back lst night. I'll let you guess where I went. I'll start with some pictures that it would be very hard to guess and add some that will get easier later.

These are all digital shots on a Nikon D50 with a Nikon 18-200VR lens. I used a circular polarizing filter on most shots.

I don't know where these were taken, but I have a b&w photo almost like the second one that I took in Yosemite back in '81. In mine there is a fallen aspen lit by smoke filtered light. Were you further north than that? The only other area I'm familiar farther north is Redwood N.P.

Here is a reflection. It is hard to take pictures with a fresh perspective that is not to weird. A few years ago I started taking reflection. It is a lot of fun.

WOW, these pics are very beautiful Steve, breathtaking, i'd love to go there one day, the biology sure looks diversified!

Man I miss Yosemite. I've spent a fair amount of time there having grown up not too far from it.
But living in New Mexico I just don't get there often enough anymore.
Amazing the falls are still cranking away. Nice pics by the way.

I remember a few cold, frosty mornings, waiting for the first rays of the rising sun to hit the face of El Capitan, camera at the ready. It was another lifetime.

What a special place. Everybody should see it at least once in a lifetime.

Hard not to take great pics at the Yosemite park i understand, looks like this place is one of your National treasures!

Thank you for the post! The photo's bring back some great memories of being in the valley in the mid 70's and hanging around Camp 4 -- long since gone. Yosemite is a magical place.

Steve, that west side of the park (from the first pic in this latest set) is my
favorite area. I feel like it's completely untouched. I'm trying to figure
out how you got the second one. Did you hike in somewhere?

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what picture you are talking about.

The fist pic in the second set and the first pic in the third set are both of Bridalveil Falls. I didn't do too much hiking this week. Those shots are no more than a 1/2 mile walk from the truck.

The 18-200VR is a great lens. I have a son who is 18 who's life goal is to be a National Geographic photographer (he is an intern at NG) and he uses it on an F-100 and a D-80 and loves it. When I showed him your pics he said, "looks really good but if you are at Yosemite shooting why arent you using a field camera ala Ansel Adams?"

I can see why you wanted to share.
You seem to have captured the place nicely!
My wife and I like to visit one of "the parks" every year if we can. Haven't been to Yosomite in a while.
Good to see it's still majestic!
Also good to see what a D50 is cappable of, especially in the right hands.
