I'm trying to source some high clarity hide glue right now. Frank Ford's supplier has a minimum order of 50 Pounds. Thats WAY too much for me. If anyone has a pound or 2 that they would be able to sell and ship to me, I'd appreciate it. I also wouldn't mind organizing a group buy if I got 8-10 people in on it with me. Its about $3.50/lb plus shipping costs. PM if interested in either of the above. If anyone knows of a source of smaller quantities, I'd appreciate it, too. Thanks. -j. |

J. Try Gene Thordahl at Bjorn Industries (link below). I bought 5 lbs of HHG recently, so I know you can get small quantities. Not certain it qualifies as high clarity, but I believe it does. In any event, give Gene a call and he will answer all your questions. Hope all is well with you. Kevin Bjorn Industries |

Why not just buy it by the pound from LMI? On the other hand, I'd be interested in going in on a group buy for about 10 lbs. |

All the suppliers I've seen so far carry the traditional Granular Hide Glue. Same stuff as the furniture repair and woodworkers use. The stuff I've gotten at Woodcraft is the same. It all appears to be Behlen Bros. hide glue. It works great and is about a 251 gram strength, but its pretty yellow, whereas Frank Ford says his is water clear and is a 192 gram strength. Even if its not quite water clear, any more clarity than what I have now would be quite helpful when repairing light colored woods like maple and primavera. -j. |

I just read the bottom of Franks article and according to him, the LMI stuff is supposed to be the high-clarity. So, its $10 for a 1 lb. container from LMI plus a minimum of 7 or 8 bucks for shipping. I've had a couple PM's on small quantities, so I'll go with them unless I get some folks together today for the group buy. Anyone who wants in on those, let me know. If we get enough, I'll be able to place that order. Thanks -j. |

Just so that you all know, I have some of this glue and sell it for $9.75 per pound. I forgot to add it in a recent web update but will soon. I will sell it for $9.00 for the next week or so. Shipping should be less than 7 or 8 dollars. Shane |

I just ordered a pound from LMI today. I believe this is the same 192 gram strength high clarity that Bjorn sells. Bjorn has a 5 lb. minimum order. Kirt |
