Hi, I've been away from the forum for a few weeks and when I return... everything's changed! First, what order are the posts in? they aren't in chronological order from the newest or oldest. Are they in the order of the newest additional post? If so, is there an icon I should look for to alert me which threads have new posts? Really, I do like the new format; this simply is one that I haven't encountered before and am confused. Thanks in advance, Steve Brown

You'll figure it out soon enough. Welcome Steve. Do you build guitars? Basically, the newest threads stay alive on the front page. Look down at the bottom of the main page and you'll see the number of active pages to which you can still post. Generally, each post in a thread, drops below all previous posts. But in the outline of the page from the main forum listing, they don't always seem to be in the same order. Hang in there, it's pretty user friendly. Most enjoy the fact they can correct a post, load pics, link to pics elsewhere. So it's fairly versatile, but not perfect. It's light years ahead of the old forum, don't you think? I sure do. By the way, where you from? and consider posting a Luthier's Bio at the top of the main page so everyone can read all about you. Matter of fact all you new guys need to consider that. |

Steve, when you first log on to the main page, unvisited posts will be highlighted blue, and previously visited posts will be violet or purple.  |

Dickey, I haven't yet begun to build but I am amassing the tools and equipment required as I complete several woodworker type commissions. I'm currently building a thickness sander and have that almost completed. I will post a pic of it when done. I sent my bio and pic to Lance a couple of days ago. I am a classical guitarist. Hi Steve, I indeed did get your bio, and will get it up asap. We did a major overhaul a month or so ago, this (is) the new look and feel. Darin, the "official" Launch will be when were on the (NEW) dedicated server I purchased last month. Brock Poling is prepping it, and we should be migrated over there soon. At that time the URL address will go back to Luthiers Forum, instead of www.brockpoling.com. Well make an announcement, not much will change, but the server speeds should be better. Lance |

The easiest way to find new posts is to click on the Active Topics link. It will only show those topics that have new posts. Glad to have you join us. |

You can also select the amount of time you want to look back by selecting from the pull down menu "show active topics since". |

Don A, Your catavatar looks like it has a pair of headlamps for eyes.... Spooky! Speaking of animals, I saw two bald eagles today in different locations. One was in a field 150 off the highway on deer carion. Stepping across the highway and down a bank caused it to fly away. I saw two tiny feathers airborne when it flew away. Eagledown, really fine stuff, know any fly-tiers? Really cool looking. |

Not if you are an American Indian. These down are bald eagle, but you'd have to be a wildlife biologist specialist to recognize them. If I hadn't seen them fluff off the eagle on takeoff, then I wouldn't know myself. The down is much like a shed antler from a deer. I once captured a bird of prey with a broken wing. Covering it with a blanket it was released into a dog pen enclosure until the Game and Fish guys got there. They had a stack of papers one inch thick, because I told them it may be a Golden Eagle. They were happy to report it was a mature Red Tail Hawk. (i didn't know) They rehab the birds and release them if possible, or put them in zoos and such. If I had a bald eagle carcass, I sure wouldn't go around wearing a headress of the feathers...... grin.... for more than one reason. |
