Hello boys and girls,
I just finished placing the bridge on this guitar and getting it ready for finish. I will start spraying tomorrow. This is an OM with a 25.4 scale guitar. The specs are:
Sitka Spruce Top
Figured/Spalted Maple Back and Sides
Cocobolo Binding on body,fingerboard,and headstock
Ebony Bridge and Fingerboard
Maple Burl rosette with b/w/b/w/w/b/w/b inlay
Mother of Pearl Inlay on Headstock and FB dots
Maple two piece neck.

I think she is going to sound real nice so everyone keep their fingers crossed. Thanks for looking and all advice/comments/criticisms are welcomed.

Homeboy

P.S.- Thanks go to Steve Kinnaird for the spalted maple idea. I saw his guitar at the GAL convention and decided to go for it. This wood was bought from a local lumber yard for 2.50 a board foot. I was going to build a table with it until I saw Steve's guitar. Another thanks goes out to everyone who replied to my query on how to fill the worm holes in the wood. I went with the consensus advice and filled with ebony dust and superglue.Homeboy39071.6745949074

That is very nice looking.

Sooooo did you string it up, you have everything there I see, just need the saddle and tuners.

I sure like that back

Thanks for all of the comliments guys! I appreciate your taking the time to look.

Rod- I have not strung it up yet. I generally dont string up a guitar until I am done with the finish. Do most people string the guitar in the white?

Homeboy, how much harder is it to finish a guitar with the bridge attached than with it off?

Looking forward to seeing yours finished.

Lillian,
The bridge is just on the top with the aid of two positioning pins. I have taken it off and taped the top up over the place where the bridge and fingerboard extension will. I glue it on after I finish the guitar.

Most people don't string it up before the finish, but I don't think most people put the bridge, neck and nut on before finishing either. That would be tooooo tempting to just throw a saddle and tuners on and play it a bit.

I like many others don't attach the neck or bridge till the finish is all done.Rod True39071.687650463

Great job Blake!
There is something very pleasing about having the back and neck wood match so nicely!

Looking good buddy!

I know this is an exciting point of the build.
Probably second only to that first strum.

The curly neck is the "ticket" when that maple ambers up a bit under the finish it will be stunning!

That's one blonde beauty! Nice work. I might have put a contrasting line in the laminated neck, but it's fine as it is.
