...questions about fretwork. I sure hope that I'm in the right place, I couldn't find anywhere else on the web that might be able to answer this. Not sure if you guys answer these or prefer to just chat with other luthiers but if you'd be kind enough my question is: How much does a total 24 fret refretting usually cost and how would I find a good luthier in my area? What sort of fret materials are the most resistant to cuts and wear? Would any luthier ever offer a guarantee that when finished the guitar would take a 100% perfect setup? I.E. inspect it first and know if it ever could then make sure it can instead of just popping in new frets. I'm just getting so sick of only getting a few months out of these mid range guitars that I like and then having to completely readjust my action to get it setup right. I hate notes that sway out of pitch and buzz and I recently played on a petillo guitar with stainless steel frets and it was like playing a keyboard in that every note was PERFECT and stayed in pitch until it died. Could I expect something like that with a Jackson dinky if it had perfectly level frets and setup? ...Kind of multiple questions in there, but I'd be very appreciative of a response. Thanks! |
