The background is from the days when I built furniture. Now I look at that table and see all kinds of instruments it should have been used in.

Waddy I don't know. I think I'll have to steal your signature "I'm not quite sure how I got here from there!". Its almost perfect, the biggest problem I have is getting the binding a consistent thickness. I always have problems near the neck. On this one I sanded too thin. I use a laminate trimmer with following bearing on a jig. I think I'll have to use a Gramel to mark the binding channel first. |

I had that problem too. My binding is down to just over 1mm in some spots on my build - about 2mm in other places, but it all flows so it isn't too noticeable. I cut all my channels by hand with my homemade circle/purfling cutter and a chisel. I think my problem came from inconsistent purfling thickness and inconsistent gluing pressure, leaving gaps and stuff. Everywhere there was a little gap, the finding is thin. |
