I think I'm really going to like this software once I'm used to it, but the missing features in VisualMill basic are a PIA

It doesn't have a roundover bit profile. Any thoughts on how to program the tool paths for a roundover? Just do a profile cut at the depth of your radius and pretend it's a roundover?

That's pretty much it. I prefer machine along curve for those types of paths just because I can leave the toolpath curve 'out in space' where I can see it, but a profile will do just as well so long as the fillet isn't included on your model already.

I have no idea why they don't include machining along curves in the basic version; it's one of the most useful tools there is for someone skilled in CAD and it's by far the easiest to program!

Thanks Bob.

This leads me to one other question. With our old CAM software we got into the habit of Homing (XY) the tool on an index pin on the fixture. It didn't require us to setup stock for which to home off a corner or center. I'm scratching my head as to what to do now to locate the part on the fixture.

Found it. Locate Geometry, pick, we're good to go.
