Post subject: | SCM machine with xilog controller help |
Hi everyone, I'm currently in the process of building an electric guitar from scratch, and i'll be using the above mentionned setup. Would somebody be kind enough to load my programs and check for possible sources of error? Ideally somebody of the same kind of setup that i'll be using. Here are a few samples of the whole process so far. I'll glady supply the final programs if someone desires to use them for personal use. Thanks in advance |

What CAM software are you using? I can see you've got CATIA there (must have a neat day job!) but are you using it for the toolpaths or just the CAD? Most CAM software has simulation which will let you check your paths, but if yours doesn't then you'd need to find someone with third-party simulation software like Vericut or Metacut (which is rare) to check the paths. |

I'm actually using Catia as my CAD and CAM software. I can do my simulations to a certain level, but i was looking to test my programs in the closest possible to reality environment. I have Vericut at work, but it would be a real pain to configure it properly with all the correct machine specs. As you know, every machine controller as it's own `soul`, i mean certain aspects that are unique to every controller. I know Xilog and SCM machines are no exception, that's why i'd like to have a real life test. If you think you can give me a hand in any way, just let me know. Thanks in advance |

I can't help you on the verification but do have a suggestion. Make mockup blanks from cheap wood to check the programs. I would bet that you'll see something that you want to change. Nelson palen |

What are you doing on it? Good to see you posting here again as well! Shane Hey Shane!!! you can't keep a good Paddy Down!! I am using the machine for everything (well not coffee etc.....) its great, made in 1999, weighs in at just over 19000lbs!! two aggregate heads, and a 10hp spindle......... its a big brute, but perfect for body and neck making.... also chews through radius dishes quite nicely!! i'm feeding it with code from mastercam, which is in turn fed by models from solidworks, all good stuff! yeah it has been a long time since i posted on the OLF, but i'm back, i guess i just got a bit dissillusioned with the same old arguments going on all time, but what can i say...... i missed you guys! P.s Shane hows the Lutz Coming? any luck with harp guitar sets? Paddy |
