I've been struggling with a carved top model for a while and had a breakthrough this week. The contours aren't nearly as elegant as a PRS, but I'm going to give it a go with some mdf this weekend. Anyone know where I can find dimensions for a single coil pick up and a tremolo cavity? Thanks for looking, Bob Attachment: electric body profile.JPG Attachment: electric back.JPG

Ahh, that would help. Haven't decided between Wilkinson D18 http://store.guitarfetish.com/wistsatrfial.html and VS100n http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailpieces/Electric_guitar_tremolos/Wilkinson_Gotoh_VS-100N_Tremolo.html Bob |

Hi Bob, I've sent you a PM. I'm currently having problems with my FTP account on my website so I can't upload a file for you so I will need to email it to you. Mike |

Decided to redraw this as a set neck. I added a foot for additional glue surface for the neck joint. I figured a pocket extending 1.5" into the body should provide enough strength. Also played with the top a little more. Hoping to run a test cut tomorrow. Attachment: set neck 1.JPG Attachment: set neck 2.JPG

Hey Bob, it looks like it is coming along nicely...! You might want to take a look at the heel of the neck though, it looks like it could stand to be elongated a bit... Trev |

Thanks for the input Trev. I was hoping to keep the surface between the fretboard and pickup, but it looks like I'll have to rethink... |

The top carve looks pretty cool & that's one of the hardest things to do. I really dig the little reverse hand carve thing too (the scalloped area on the back of the guitar)...nice work! |

I cut a test top this afternoon. I really like the shape from the middle pickup and higher, but I'm not sure about the lower half. The carve "feels" a little too abrupt. I didn't want something that looked like a simple radius, but maybe I got a little carried away with the shape. Have to stare at it for a couple of days and see if it grows on me. |

I always figured that was one of the coolest things about CNC. It's relatively easy to make whatever it is that you want; the real question is what do you want? |
