I've got a cnc88hs control and it's having problems with arcs from VisualMill. Sure they can be broken up into line segments but that makes the files really balloon up.

I've been going round and round with Mecsoft tech support. I'm sure we'd have better results if I wasn't so green.

This may seem to be a stupid answer for you but I have found some controllers must be set manually to incremental mode to use arcs. I ran in to this problem with a converted Hurco and another converted mill.

Just a thought. idunno

I had that exact problem With VM and Mach 3

That is true with M3 usually you will get the "arc radius differs from end" error. This indicates that IJK Incremental mode is required. I have found some controller use radius mode as well but more times than not they require incremental mode. Even though a G91 call is made for IJK distance or a G91.1 for absolute IJK distance, the controller must be in incremental mode to understand it.

My programs for the 88HS used I,J,K arcs but there was no need to change the mode from absolute to incremental. All that should be required is changing your post from using radius arcs to the I,J,K ones on your G2/G3 moves.

For some reason I was thinking that radius arcs are controlled by G15 G16 exit and enter polar mode? Where as, G2 G3 are used in IJK mode for helical and circular interpolation.

No problem, it's been awhile since I wrote some code. Glad to see someone with the same controller that can help.
