bliss http://www.guitarbuilding.org/#!curriculum look in the Guitar Design Archives. They have five or six different body styles you can download and if you are using Partworks/VCarvePro/Cuts2d, ie Vertic CNC Software then you can also download the CNC files for the bodies. A good way to test out your CNC router; especially for those of you that are having trouble designing a guitar in CAD and making the CNC file.

I went to their week long summer workshop in August and it was the best one I have ever attended. They are sponsored by a national science foundation grant and are teaching teachers the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math behind electric guitars. It is a great program and a clever way to get students excited about learning.

Pretty cool link, thanks for sharing that!

I was surprised to see that they are doing swirls, as I had a foray into this a while back....I had stumbled on this website, which I think provides a lot of information from folks experimenting with swirling, and have also found all the paints that work the best...

http://theswirling.com/

If anyone is interested...

My results were somewhat mixed, and the end I had to get a heater for my water bucket to get it to the right temperature, before I got something decent.....still not 100% happy with it though, and I need a lot more practice!

Here are a couple more that me and my nephew attempted this weekend. Still trying to perfect the swirl dip. Having a bit of a issue with the darker colors, but the light ones come out o.k. Still not 100% satisfied, but getting closer.

What temperature are you getting your water too? I have thought about getting a fish tank heater and dropping in the barrel to control that aspect. Several things must come together in just right in order to get a good swirl. The swirling.com as alot of good information. In fact the picture with the three guitar bodies is the same one that I posted on their site too.

One thing to do instead of using news paper to remove the excess paint off the surface of the water before pulling the part out. Use a blow dryer instead and blow the excess paint to the side of the container. It works much better. :)

@uffabrew:

I used an aquarium water heater to bring it up to 78 degrees.....then used one of those laser thermometers to read the temperature...a little colder is fine also....used Humbrol paints, but I am ordering some marble magic paints next....
