As I was working on the finish today and got to the tail of the guitar I noticed some tear out on the sides. This is frustrating to find at this point but as much as I have sanded and worked over the body of the guitar during the build I just never saw it. Well, I see it now. Here is a post about a French polish repair. I sanded the sides down where the anomaly was and then feathered the surrounding area to 400 grit. I sealed up the area with shellac and alcohol and then used a bit of pumice to pore fill. After that it was back to the polish schedule and things look better. A few more sessions and this one will be looking good. This took about an hour. For those thinking of trying French polish this is the number one reason in my book. It is pretty easy to fix.

Good job!! I had rather see you blear the pumice with shellac and alcohol on the muneca first before touching the finish be cause you can cause a whitish speckles in the shellac if not cleared but you did a good job so I wont get on to you

Bravo! I just touched up a FP neck for an OM that I gave to my neighbor and can't agree more how nice and easy it was to do.
