Having a hard time keeping a consistant thickness on my strips. Mind you my table saw is what you would call a classic so might not be the best optoin for me. I plan on talking to a friend to see about trying out thier saw. Hopefully I get better results. I know in the video you said the thickness will vary. Mine have a variance of about .008" - .010". I'm guessing your variance isn't quite that much?

This is all interesting but the methods are clearly subjective and any data collected suffers from a heavy though predictable self-delusion bias We know from previous studies that there is a strongly inverse relationship between the self reported characteristics and performance of ones push stick and actual measured results.

So, back to purfling for a minute, a fret slot cutting saw would be helpful in making cleaner cuts not cutting such wide kerfs. A zero clearance insert would also be useful. In fact a zero clearance insert is a must for cutting these small parts. And then perhaps a small sled to carry the stock wood and consistency of width (height) should not be a problem and the cut edges would be cleaner and more easily pushed into the slots

Would it really be that difficult to glue in the binding and radial purfling in one go and do away with the Teflon strip? I’ve never tried it with bits of purfling but have done long purf strips of various woods and colours and binding at once and not had any issues. One reason I like fish glue for this, it has a long open time and is easy to heat up and re-clamp if there are any gaps.
