| Post subject: | Mortis and Tenon Templates |
I need to make some new router templates for the neck joint mortis and tenon. I plan to use acrylic sheets and have tried 3/16 thick materal and it is too flexible for the mortis jig. Next I made some of 1/2" materal and that works, but seems rather thick. Any suggestions as to what you use? |

Hi, I use the Stewmac templates. They are 3/8" thick and seem to be fine. I have thought they'd be better at 1/2" but I have been using them for a while and they work every time (when I don't stuff up!) |

I ultimately went 1/2" because I thought the 3/8" was a little too flexible for the tenon template. It works very well. |

You might consider polycarbonate rather than acrylic as it machines much better. |
