Post subject:  how do you make this rosette?

Hi i am trying to bend the wooden strips so as to make a rosette.I have the same strips as the ones shown in the photo but every time i am trying to make a circle they brake(i tried heat them on the bending iron too but the same thing happens(the circle is 3 cm i think)).....how is this done?? i attach a file that shows the ring i want to build...please help me :(

Well one way...
pie shaped side grain blocks glued up
rings are sliced off & glued to veneer and circle cut out
ring inlaid in top
line for two black rings cut and inlaid.

thats for the outer rosette.

the inner rosette is coping saw pierced and then hand carved.

xm.... my english is not so good....i think you said that i must take the outer black rings out so as for the inner blocks to bend and then put other black rings right?thanks a lot for your answer too!!

I'm assuming you are talking about the pieces in the middle and not the black lines. If so, there is no reason to bend anything. Those pieces appear to be radial grain. So that leads me to believe they were glued up and then cut out with a circle cutter. Then assembled in the rosette.

I actually managed to make this rosette hard to do but liked it in the end you curve the circle in the wood and then take a purfing strip you separate the one side and then bend it in because the inner circle is smaller than the outer!
