I understand that when I remove material from the heel block to allow for the width of the top that I also need to do this at a slight angle to raise the nut end 2mm (IN MY CASE) above the plane of the body. Shouldn't the underside of the front block also be angled to accept the back of the guitar smoothly? Allan

I take it you are not working on a solera or work board. That is very helpful in getting the minute angle right in that situation. The best way is to cut it close, but still too shallow. Then put a thickness of sandpaper under the neck reversed, just for the thickness, then put a piece of sandpaper on the top, grit up, and, using small motions, sand the depth to the right angle using small motions, in the position where it will be glued. When you do this, the neck needs to be at the final angle. |
