Hi!

I´m planing my second build, and I was wondering, how much difference will body cavities, without sound holes, make in one electric guitar, compared to same design totally solid body guitar? Sure they make guitar lighter and affect the sustain and so on, but is this reasonable solution?

I also want to know, if this fine tuning process can be used on electrics (with cavities) too, what is described in this topic. viewtopic.php?f=10117&t=30241

I have very limited access to various workshops and this kind of stuff here, where I live. I can use only online solutions and lessons, so I can read and read and test it out somehow, but I´d like to hear tips and opinions from you guys.

I want to make instrument, that has the regular electric guitar size, with the rich clean tone and is also great at higher gain settings. I like the sound of an archtop and similar instruments, but I don´t like the thing with those, that they are not as comfortable to play with, because of their slightly bigger size. So I want to mimic the sound of an archtop a bit and yet get whole electric guitar advantages and looks, i think they are called semi-hollows, or am I wrong?

What tips do you have to make this happen´. Can I finetune the top and back(with carved cavities) and how close can I get the clean sound to a archtop and how is the higher gain sound affected.

I´m new to here, and my english can be a bit rough, but maybe you can see what I mean.

It sounds like you want a guitar that "does it all",
which is impossible.
Try different designs,
and figure out which you like.
The big jazz boxes sound great,
but feedback is a problem.
Maybe copy one of those Guild 3/4 sized hollow body jobs.
They are about the size of a Les Paul body,
and feedback less than a fat box.
Tailpiece required.
Dogear p-90's would be nice.
Gibson also made a Les Paul shaped 3/4 sized thin hollow body that is one of the sweetest looking gits I've ever seen. ES 140T.

thanks for opinion. I dont wan´t a guitar, that does it all, I want sweet sounding cleans, while still saving some higher gain power.
